Lahore-‘Journey of a hundred leaves’ is an literary initiative of the Seplaa Young leaders Club International which is hinged upon the global issue of climate change and the subsequent need for girls voices to be highlighted on this subject matter as they are the ones who are most affected by the detrimental affects of climate change. This book is therefore, a social enterprise project where the community will be engaged through various climate change activities in the pursuit of spreading awareness to the broader community.
This book has been inspired by the journey of the co founders of the Seplaa Young Leaders Club International, Amal Farooq Malik and Dina Farooq Malik as it was after the floods of August 2010 that they started their journey to learn about the repercussions of climate change. They have been actively raising awareness on the issue of climate change by arranging different environmental awareness activities and attending various conferences and seminars in several countries of Asia.
Their book is hoped to raise awareness about climate change advocacy and to build peace by establishing positive international linkages. Moreover, the knowledge gained from attending international conferences was brought back to Pakistan by the authors and the knowledge was reinforced in climate change activities conducted with underprivileged children of partners schools.
The underlying aim of this international venture is to inspire and enlighten children and youth especially young girls, about the various ways in which they can adapt to the effects of climate change and avoid the worst effects of climate change.
